How Much Does It Cost to Build and Publish an App with RNBlocks?
RNBlocks plans and creditsplus the separate costs of Apple, Google, Expo and connected services.
How much does RNBlocks cost?
Free accounts get 100 one-time promotional credits with no card required. Pro costs $15/month with 150 credits. Studio costs $29/month with 400 credits. Both paid plans include the same Studio tools, source downloads and installable builds. Store memberships and connected services are billed separately.

Plans
| Plan | Price | AI credits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 one-time signup credits |
| Pro | $15/month | 150 per month |
| Studio | $29/month | 400 per month |
Top-ups (with an active plan)
50 credits for $5, 150 for $15, 350 for $30. Top-up credits carry over while you stay subscribed.
Other costs to plan for
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Apple Developer Program | US$99 per year |
| Google Play Console | US$25 one time |
| Supabase, OpenAI, Anthropic, Replicate, ElevenLabs | Each provider's own pricing |
| Expo services | Expo's own plans |
How credits work
Credits pay for AI work. Longer conversations and bigger changes use more. Stopping a request does not undo work already done.
Separate building costs from running costs
RNBlocks credits pay for work performed by the building and publishing agents. The finished app can also call services that charge according to their own usage. These are different budgets.
An app that only keeps a small list locally has a different cost profile from one generating images for hundreds of users. Estimate the actual feature usage instead of treating the builder subscription as the complete operating bill.
A simple planning worksheet
| Cost | How to estimate it |
|---|---|
| Builder plan | Plan needed for the tools and monthly work |
| Additional credits | Expected iteration beyond the included allowance |
| Store accounts | Platforms and account types you will publish under |
| Backend | Database, storage, bandwidth and server work |
| AI, images or voice | Requests or generation units per active person |
| Maintenance | Time and services needed after the first release |
Use current checkout information when purchasing, including taxes and regional pricing. A monthly price is not a promise that any app can be completed with exactly one month's credits.
Choose between Pro and Studio by usage
The documented plans share the Studio and publishing toolset; Studio provides more monthly credits. If your work fits within Pro's allowance, a larger plan may be unnecessary. If you iterate frequently, compare the included allowance and optional top-ups.
Do not equate one credit with one completed feature. A small text change, a multi-screen generation and a complicated debugging request can use different amounts of AI work. Check the usage shown in your account.
A hypothetical first release budget
Imagine a small reading tracker that stores account data and has no generative features. Its estimate might include the builder plan, the chosen backend, an Apple membership for iOS and Google registration for Android.
Now add spoken summaries and generated covers. The app needs separate speech and image-provider usage estimates. That change can affect both cost and privacy work even if the home screen barely changes.
The example is a budgeting method, not a quote. Your audience, service usage and release route determine the actual amount.
Understand credits before starting a large change
Review what resets each billing cycle, how top-ups behave and whether auto-reload is enabled. Set limits that suit your budget. Canceling or stopping work does not necessarily reverse provider usage already incurred.
Keep early requests focused and verify the result before adding more. This reduces avoidable rework, although it cannot guarantee a fixed generation cost.
Revisit costs after real use
Once people try the app, replace guesses with observed request counts, storage and active use. Separate your own tests from customer activity.
The useful question is not only 'what does it cost to build?' It is whether the app can deliver its intended value at a cost you can sustain after launch.
Can I start without paying?
RNBlocks offers a free starting allowance. Use it to test the workflow and inspect a focused first journey. Confirm the plan requirements for source export, installable builds and publishing tools before relying on them.
Does one subscription include store fees?
No. Developer-account enrollment and provider services are separate costs. Budget for the stores you actually need and check regional pricing and any applicable eligibility conditions.
Is Studio a different app builder from Pro?
The documented plans use the same core Studio and publishing tools, with a larger credit allowance on Studio. Choose based on the work and usage you expect rather than assuming the higher plan generates a different framework.
Can I estimate by number of screens?
Screen count alone is a weak estimate. A simple list and a complex account-and-payment screen can require very different work. Include integrations, iteration and testing.
What should I check before purchase?
Read the current plan, billing cadence, credit rules and optional reload settings in your account. Keep the builder budget separate from the running app's provider usage. After real testing, revise the estimate using observed consumption. This avoids both underestimating ongoing costs and buying a larger allowance without evidence that you need it.
Budget for a correction round
Leave room for testing and changes after the first generation. A larger allowance is not a substitute for a clear brief, but a budget that assumes every first attempt is final can be unrealistic. Track actual usage as you work and decide the next scope from what remains, rather than promising a fixed finished-app price from the initial screen count.
Questions people also ask
Do credits expire?
Monthly plan credits reset each billing cycle. Top-up credits carry over while you remain subscribed.
